New Pictures / Nové Obrázky

Another CD (Mussorgsky's Pictures) coming out in November. It's my 12th CD out this year ;-). Audio samples are all over the place.

Ďalšie CD (Musorgského Obrázky z výstavy) vychádza v novembri. Je to moje dvanáste CD v tomto roku ;-). Ukážky sa dajú nájsť všade.

Podcast about my latest CD, lot of music there. Very nice job,Raymond Bisha.
Podcast mojho posledného CD, s veľmi dobrou prednáškou

Originally written as a set of piano pieces, Mussorgsky’s splendid Pictures at an Exhibition translates the artistry of the composer’s friend Victor Hartmann into unforgettable music. Peter Breiner’s new orchestration creates a showpiece for our times, achieving contemporary sounds through unusual instrumental combinations, right up to a spectacular Great Gate of Kiev performed by 104 musicians. Mussorgsky’s remarkable song cycles contrast encounters with death against the often uneasy world of children in The Nursery.

Peter Breiner has been associated with some of our most successful orchestral recordings, not least the three disc series of Janáček’s Operatic Orchestral Music which were also produced with the excellent New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Volume 1 (8570555) of this set was a MusicWeb International ‘Recording of the Year’ and the arrangements in volume 3 (8570706) described as ‘beautifully crafted symphonic suites’ by the Chicago Tribune.

"...Not since I heard Stokowski conduct his own orchestration at the Proms in 1966 have I been so impressed with an alternative to the Ravel. The Great Gate of Kiev brings the house down – this version makes it all the more regrettable that it was never built. The other works are equally effective... "

At WQXR they realized I am a New Yorker. Or something. / WQXR asi zistilo, že som newyorčan

This morning from 8:26 am, as on quite a few other mornings (and days), New Yorkers on their way to work were accompanied by Slovak recordings. They played my latest Tchaikovsky CD at least twenty times in the last two months. Nice people ;-)

Pekne ;-)
